LONDON : MARA sponsored medical student, Nor Hasniza Abdul Halim, 25, has graduated as best student from the medical faculty of Charles University in Prague, ending her six year medical study in the Czech Republic.
The graduation ceremony was held yesterday at the university with 60 other international students, including 33 Malaysian students.
To share her proud moment were her parents, biology teacher Zaiton Abdullah ,53 and Abdul Halim Osman, 55, a technician with the JKR, who flew in from their hometown in Taiping.
Also present at the graduation ceremony was Malaysian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Pn Nadzirah Osman.
The former MARA Banting student who graduated with a First Class Honours attributed her success to parents for their continued support and faith in her throughout her six years in the Czech Republic.
“The First Class Honours is for them because the six years had been tough and without their support during every exam, I couldn’t have made it,” said the eldest of five children who had excelled in maths and science and whose cgpa every semester was always above 3.5.
Nor Hasniza spent the day after the graduation with her parents sightseeing in Prague before they leave for home tomorrow.
They had made their way to Prague where the main campus of the university is situated. Nor Hasniza’s medical faculty is in Hradec Kralove, a two hour drive away from the Czech capital.
“The exams were really tough because they were all oral exams – a one to one session with a professor for 30 minutes. But the finals is more difficult as you have to face five professors for one hour,” explained Nor Hasniza who wants to be a Cardiologist.
“As a doctor you prioritise others, it is a job that will benefit a lot of people,” said the Nor Hasniza who also hoped to be able to volunteer her services to the victims in Gaza.
